The workshop will introduce participants to ecologically sound forest farming practices in the Northeast region. The morning will start with a plant walk at Sage Mountain lead by United Plant Savers’ very own Betzy Bancroft. The second part of the afternoon will involve a hands on demonstration on establishing a polyculture forest farming system from seed propagation. Topics in focus will include site selection, understory plant ecology, and forest farming best practices. The event will wrap up with an optional conversation around the impacts of Vermont land use laws on forest farming practices. A light lunch will be provided!
