We’ll meet at UVM’s Jericho Research Forest classroom for an introduction to the forest, including its history, and current and future management goals. Then, we’ll walk into the forest to see a recently planted forest farming site. We’ll discuss key indicator species for forest farming and identify a good location to plant ramps. The workshop includes an hour of hands-on planting of ramp bulbs, so be ready to get your hands dirty. There will also be many opportunities to talk about the current state of Vermont forests and forest farming.

The day will be co-led by Suzy Hodgson (UVM Extension Center for Sustainable Agriculture), Walker Cammack (Smokey House Center),  Nat Burr (Northeast Forest Farmers Coalition), Jess Wikle (UVM Rubenstein School) and Molly Willard (State of Vermont, Dept. of Forests, Parks and Recreation).
