Forest Farming Understory Botanicals: Farm Tour & Planting

  • Wild Hudson Valley Abandoned Airport Rd Cairo, NY 12413 (map)

Join us at Wild Hudson Valley for a tour of our forest farm! We'll learn about different types of forest farming as we walk through the woods to see our mushroom laying yard and woods-cultivated forest botanicals, including ginseng, goldenseal, black cohosh, ramps, and bloodroot. Along the way, we'll identify and discuss the different wild edible and medicinal plant and mushroom species that owners Anna and Justin steward and forage as part of their diversified forest farming operation. We’ll discuss options for different propagation strategies, infrastructure, and propagule types, including demonstrations of seed collection and rhizome division.

Register on Wild Hudson Valley’s website here.

This workshop is part of the ADAPT Project’s 2026 Agroforestry Twilight Meetings held by UNH Extension in collaboration with the Northeast Forest Farmers Coalition. Additional events, information, and registration information can be found here.
